Last month, we took a break from work and went on a 2D1N fun and romantic getaway to Resorts World Sentosa. Read more about our spa experience here.

With less than one hour flying time from KL, Singapore is perfect for a quick getaway from work stress. If the vibrant island city is too much for you to handle, why not consider Resorts World Sentosa Singapore? Whether you are looking for total relaxation, family fun or a romantic getaway; RWS is suited for everyone.

Where to Stay?

A wide variety of hotels such as the family friendly Festive Hotel, the chic Hard Rock Hotel and the luxurious Equarius Hotel are dotted around Resorts World Sentosa. This time, we stayed at Hotel Michael, an artsy looking hotel with mural-adorned walls and artistic furniture pieces that tell a story in every honey maple-colored room. The hotel is central to most attractions such as Universal Studios Singapore, Festive Walk, Lake of Dreams and Waterfront station.. The room was clean and comfortable and quite a good size.

What to Do?

Universal Studios Singapore

In Universal Studios Singapore, there are 7 themed attractions with many rides and activities. One can sure spend one whole day here without feeling bored.

HOLLYWOOD
P1110127
From the entrance, the first zone that we entered is Hollywood. With palm trees, striking architecture, ‘Walk of Fame’ all present here, it reminded us of the famous Hollywood boulevard.
P1110132

There are plenty of photo opportunities here!

Look out for the Minions at the Hollywood Boulevard! We were really lucky to catch them after their groovy dance performance.

Do not miss out on the street entertainment in front of Mel’s Drive-In as well as the Lake Hollywood Spectacular – an incredible fireworks show that will burst across the night sky on selected Saturdays.

NEW YORK
P1110145
With significant NYC landmarks dotted around such as neon lights, sewers and yellow cab, we thought that we were in the Big Apple for a moment!

We managed to catch the awesome hurricane simulation experience at the “Lights! Camera! Action! Hosted by Steven Spielberg”. “Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase” was a fun indoor joy ride too.

There are also frequent live performances in New York throughout the day, such as The Rockafellas, a hiphop dance performance.

Sci-Fi City
P1110258
P1110157
The city of future is here! Our most favourite ride in the whole of UNIVERSAL STUDIOS SINGAPORE is TRANSFORMERS The Ride: The Ultimate 3D Battle.

The 3D thrill ride brought us to a world where DECEPTICONS invaded the NEST head quarter. We raced through the city, zipping through subway tunnels, down city streets and across high-rise rooftops. It felt as though we were in the movie.
P1110172
However, we were there to accept a new challenge! Battlestar Galactica: HUMAN vs. CYLON, the world’s tallest pair of dueling roller coasters. The red side represents HUMAN, a seated roller coaster, and the grey side, CYLON, is a suspended coaster, which means your legs are dangling free beneath you as you ride.

The intertwined coasters offer a truly exhilarating adventure as you twist, turn and drop.

THE LOST WORLD
P1110189

P1110192
The Lost World is divided into two themed areas: Jurassic Park and WaterWorld. The “WaterWorld” show is a must watch, we reckoned. It is an action-packed show, with many death-defying stunts, along with thrills and spills from real explosions. Audiences who sit at the wet and splash zones might get really wet though!

FAR FAR AWAY
P1110194

P1110212
We had fun exploring Shrek’s world in the Far Far Away zone. One can discover Shrek’s swamp house and stroll along Far Far Away’s glamorous Romeo Drive or sing along and even talk with Donkey in the Donkey LIVE interactive show. We enjoyed the Shrek 4D Adventure show so much. Through the 3D lenses, we saw, heard and felt all the action right from our seat.
P1110207
How could we miss out the world’s first Puss In Boots’ Giant Journey coaster! It is a fun family roller coaster. Riders get to join Puss and Kitty on this anti-gravity, swashbuckling adventure in search of the legendary golden eggs.

MADAGASCAR
P1110220
We were so excited to meet Alex, Marty, Melman and Gloria in the Madagascar zone. We went onto the “Madagascar: A Crate Adventure” river boat ride with state-of-the-art animated figures and many other show-action effects, just like in the movie! Kids can go take the King Julien’s Beach Party-Go-Round.

We also tried some interesting stuffs such as the chilli crab hot dog and mango patbingsu in USS.

Michelin-Starred Dining
P1110271
If you happen to be in Singapore, and would like to treat yourself to delicacies of Michelin-stared restaurants, you can pay a visit to Resort World Sentosa Singapore.
P1110281
With a total of six Michelin Stars in Michelin Guide Singapore 2017, RWS remains the destination in Singapore with the most Michelin Stars under its wing.

Teppan is chef Yobemura’s (of one-Michelin-starred Restaurant Yonemura in Kyoto) first outpost out of Japan and the first for such a concept.
P1110288
Chef Yonemura is renowned for his innovative Japanese-French fusion cuisine, showcased in the menu.

6-course dinner: S$188++ per person

9-course dinner: S$228++ per person
P1110295
Our theoretical dining experience started with a welcome cocktail. It is a mix of Grey Goose Vodka and fermented yuzu liquor, and then spraying a mist of Angostura bitters on a flaming slice of Barcardi-soaked candied orange.
P1110303
High quality Fuji Marumo green tea is being served here.
kbcg - RWS23
The amuse bouche of mussel canapes and konbu seaweed flavoured flounder and persimmon spring roll are the perfect interpretation of French technique and elegant Japanese accents.
P1110315
What goes into our appetiser…
P1110320
The clam and lobster bouillabaisse is incredibly fresh and flavourful.
P1110321

P1110333
The highlight, is of course the Japanese wagyu beef, served with Yonemura’s housemade peanut butter sauce, ponzu sauce and grated radish. The chef sears them dramatically in a blaze of fire.
P1110342
The beef has good flavour, but is a tad over-cooked.
P1110348
Garlic Rice & Pasta is chef Yonemura’s favourite comfort food. It is a Kyoto-style okonomiyaki-inspired dish with a mix of both pasta and rice.
P1110357
I loved the smoky, burnt flavour of it.
P1110362

Teppan by Chef Yonemura is located at Level 1, The Forum at Resorts World Sentosa. It opens from 6 to 10.30pm, Tuesdays to Saturdays, and is closed on Sundays and Mondays. Advanced reservations are required – call 6577-6688 or e-mail dining@RWSentosa.com.

The Maritime Experiential Museum
P1110553
Recently reopened on 29th of December 2017, The Maritime Experiental Museum is a good place to relive the glorious conquest of the seas, as you return to the Maritime Silk Route of eras past.
P1110556
We were being transported through time in 15 thematic galleries, journey in the tailwinds of renowned seafarers, and even flee pirate invaders aboard a burning ship.
P1110557
I like how the galleries are both interactive and educational.
P1110567
The market place gallery is a great place to take picture too.
P1110568
For SGD3, the Typhoon Theatre is a multimedia show where you get to sail into an unrelenting storm. The set of the show goes around a Chinese junk that is bound for Arabia but runs into a thunderstorm in the middle of its journey. The show takes about 4 minutes, after which the “ship” sinks to reveal a gorgeous surprise.

S.E.A Aquarium
P1110584
The S.E.A Aquarium being home to thousands of fish and marine life, is one of the world’s largest aquariums.

P1110599
We were in awe of the Shipwreck that greeted us at the entrance to the aquarium. There were many batfish, trivially (giant king fish) and pompanos here.
PC070563
The Open Gallery is the centerpiece of the Aquarium. At 36m wide and 8.3m tall, it is one of the world’s largest acrylic panels.
P1110596
Visitors get to touch and learn more about sea starts and sea cucumbers at the Discovery Touch Pool.

This post concludes our 2D1N stay at Resort World Sentosa. Do check out these Malaysian deals for your upcoming holiday.
